My Friend's Kitchen
by: Jennie Anderson
I walked in the door without a knock,
I don't even know if it had a lock .
I went to the cabinet and took down a cup,
proceeded to the coffee pot to fill it up..
I sat down at the table where I would always chat
with this wonderful old friend I will just call "Pat"
There have been times when we were so broke,
we ate fried cabbage and thought it a joke
We shared the hard times and the good,
I would go back and relive it if only I could
In that tiny little house with a stove for heat,
two good friends who just happened to meet
The trials we had as I look back over the years.
I remember all the times of laughter and tears
Going to Dan's, talking till dawn,
at work next day I did nothing but yawn
Best time ever was when we had money in hands, we would celebrate by eating at Mann's
In all the world I never had a friend so true,
my sweet "Pat" I will always love you
